After two wins in the NSIC Tournament, St. Cloud State had the championship game in sight, but it would be no easy task as they matched up with Augustana in the semifinals.

The Huskies would get off to a quick 1-0 lead off an RBI single from Mat Meyer in the top of the first and would add another run in the 4th inning. The Vikings would add 3-runs of their own to take the lead.

A SAC fly and a couple of RBI singles in the top of the 5th would put the Huskies back on top and the score would read 5-3 heading to the bottom half of the inning.

The offense would go cold the rest of the way for St. Cloud and Sheldon Miks day would end with two outs in the 5th and the bullpen wouldn’t fare much better.

Riley Ahern and Dylan Haskamp would each allow an unearned run in the 6th inning and Augustana would take a 6-5 leading heading to the 7th.

The Vikings would add three in the 7th and another in the 8th off Matt Butler, sending St. Cloud State into the elimination side of the bracket.

St. Cloud would then matchup with a team looking to sneak into the NCAA Central Region Tournament in Minot State.

Mitch Mallek would get an RBI single in the 1st and the Huskies would be off to another fast start.

Minot would get two in the top of the 2nd from an Ethan Ibarra error to take the from St. Cloud, but a Jordan Joseph RBI would knot the game back up at two at the end of three innings.

Both teams would get a run in the 4th as Trevor Koening’s day would end as well.

Matthew Osterberg would come in relief and allow a 2-out, 2-run homerun and the Beavers would hold the lead the rest of the way exploding for 4-runs in the 8th with Osterberg giving up seven earned runs.

The Huskies would fall by a score of 11-4, ending their NSIC Tournament run and know their fate at 9 p.m. tonight for the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
