Archived: Marcus Barshaw Convicted Of First Degree Murder In 2012 Rockville Shooting
A Stearns County judge convicted Marcus Barshaw of first degree murder, sentencing him to life in prison without parole, for the 2012 murder of a Rockville man.
Barshaw was convicted for shooting and killing Jeffery Schutz after getting into a verbal argument that escalated into the fatal shooting back in October of 2012.
According to autopsy results, Schutz was shot a total of six times. Several of those shots were fired from an SKS semi-automatic assault rifle as Schutz tried to run away.
After shooting the victim, Barshaw hid in a nearby apartment building laundry room where he was shot once by a Stearns County Deputy, after exiting the laundry room armed with the SKS assault rifle and a pistol.
On Friday, the 30 year-old defendant from Walker was convicted of first degree premeditated murder and murder in the second degree. Barshaw may spend the rest of his life behind bars, with his only chance to get out through the Minnesota Supreme Court appeal process.
