Archived: Men’s Hockey Splits at Denver

The St. Cloud State men’s hockey team maintained a share of first place with a WCHA road series split with Denver. The Huskies won 3-0 on Friday night before dropping game two 6-1 on Saturday.

SCSU got two goals from Nic Dowd in game one, giving him six on the season. Finnish Freshman Kalle Kossila also added his fourth goal of the season. Ryan Faragher made 28 saves to earn his second shutout of the season and third of his young career.

Saturday night it was all DU as the Pioneers snapped a 1-1 first period tie with five straight goals to bury the Huskies. Junior Cory Thorson was the lone SCSU goal scorer, notching his fourth goal at 5:01 of the first period.

St. Cloud State is now 5-3 overall this season and 3-1 in WCHA play. The men’s hockey team is back home this weekend for the last WCHA series against North Dakota.
