New Bike Racks Are Coming To St. Cloud

With summer right around the corner it’s time to get the bikes out of storage, and St. Cloud is looking to make improvements for bikers around the city.

Stearns County Public Health Coordinator Allison Dudek says the city is encouraging people who work downtown to bike to work by adding 22 new bike racks around the area. Fifteen of the bike racks will be installed through April and May, primarily along St. Germain Street.

Most of the bike racks to be installed over the next month will be available before Bike to Work Week, May 13th-17th. There will also be having a social media contest during Bike to Work Week for Benton, Sherburne, and Stearns county businesses for the best picture posted of employees biking to work. The winning entry will receive breakfast delivered to the participating employees.

The funding is through the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership and St. Cloud Public Works will be installing the racks.
