Offense explodes in sweep of Wayne State

By Collin Rutkowski

The Huskies (20-10, 2-4 NSIC) split their four games over the weekend playing Augustana on Saturday and Wayne State earlier today.

St. Cloud had some trouble against the Vikings combining for three runs in the two games. Megan Conrads drove in the lone run in game one going 2-3 with a double and a triple. Augustana took game one 6-1.

Game 2 was nearly the same for the Huskies falling 10-2 as it dropped their conference record to 0-4.

Monday was a different story. St. Cloud put up 25 runs in their two-game series against the Wildcats. The Huskies lineup hit four homeruns with Megan Conrads hitting a 3-run homerun in the first inning. It would be all St. Cloud in game one taking it 13-5 in six innings.

Game two was nearly identical to the first game for the ladies as they would hit another four home runs with Jasmin Estrada and Megan Conrads going back to back in the fifth inning putting the exclamation point on game two, winning 12-5.

St. Cloud’s success has been due to the long ball so far this season, hitting 31 through 30 games. That’s only four off of their total hit in 2018 of 35.

The Huskies will look to get their conference record back to .500 tomorrow taking on Minot State at 1 and 3 p.m. You can hear all the action live on the KVSC sports stream with Collin Rutkowski on the call.
