Rox Drop Pitcher’s Duel in Mankato

Rox 0, Mankato 1

The Rox would wrap up their two-game series with the MoonDogs in Mankato on Tuesday.

The Rox found themselves in a pitchers’ duel with Mankato as Justin Kelly threw six strong innings and only allowed one run for St. Cloud.

Over Kelly’s 22 total innings this season, he has only allowed one run and carries a 0.41 ERA.

The bullpen for the Rox were able to match Kelly’s start as St. Cloud State’s Trevor Koenig threw two scoreless innings and did not allow a hit or run.  Koenig also stuck out two batters.

Jordan Barth had a multi-hit day, going 2-4 for St. Cloud.  Jack Kelly, Nate Swarts and Jack Winkler all recorded hits in the loss.

With the loss, the Rox drop to second place in the Minnesota/Iowa pod and are a half-game back of Waterloo for first place.

The Rox now return home to Joe Faber Field to take on Willmar to begin a two-game home-and home series on Wednesday.  First pitch set for 7:05
