SCSU’s women’s hockey team kicked off an eight game home stand this weekend with a non-conference series against RPI. It was the Huskies final non-conference series of the season. SCSU couldn’t contain RPI as they took two wins from SCSU.

Friday the Huskies fell 4-1 despite outshooting the Engineers 45-21. SCSU’s only goal came on their fourth power-play chance of the game. Paige Pena slammed it home during the period to make it a 2-1 game. RPI would score their own power play goal and add an empty netter to skate away with a 4-1 victory Friday afternoon.

Saturday the Huskies looked for revenge in a close game.  Molli Mott scored the lone SCSU goal short-handed to cut the lead in half during the third period. The Huskies were unable to find the back of the net again as RPI completed the sweep with a 2-1 final. Katie Fitzgerald recorded 18 saves in the game.
