SCSU Women’s Hockey 2018-19 season came to a close after falling to #2 Wisconsin in the first round of the WCHA Women’s Hockey tournament over the weekend in Madison.

3/1/19 – ST.CLOUD STATE 0 – #2 WISCONSIN 5 – FINAL – MADISON, WIS. – WCHA TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND

The high-powered Badgers buried the Huskies early in the game Friday afternoon with a pair of goals less than a minute from each other in the first period and SCSU could not find a response.

UW’s Britta Curl added a third Badger goal in the second period for her second goal of the game and Annie Pankowski and Presley Norby would ice the WHCA tournament win for the Badgers sealing the 5-0 win for Wisconsin Friday afternoon.

St. Cloud State only committed one penalty coming early in the first period against the Badgers and also saw a strong performance in goal from net minder Janine Alder who stopped 44 shots in the loss. The Huskies penalty kill went 1-1 in the game as well.

3/2/19 – ST. CLOUD STATE 0 – #2 WISCONSIN 8 – FINAL – MADISON, WIS. – WCHA TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND

The Huskies could not solve the offensive powerhouse of the Badgers in game two of the weekend’s WCHA quarterfinal tournament contest in Madison.

#2 Wisconsin dominated the first period with four goals ultimately digging a hole too deep for the Huskies to climb out of in the game. The Badgers Britta Curl notched two goals along with Caitlin Schneider and Annie Pankowski tallying goals to make it 4-0 in the first.

The scoring outburst would continue for the Badgers, as Annie Pankowski would collect a hat trick in the win with goals late in the 2nd period and in the 3rd. Nicole LaMantia and Presley Norby would make it 7-0 and 8-0 respectively booking Wisconsin a trip to the 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff in Minneapolis this coming weekend.

SCSU Women’s Hockey season comes to a close with a record of 10-25-2 overall, 5-21-0 in the WCHA and finishing 7th in the conference.
