Archived: SCSU Women’s Hockey Sweeps Lindenwood

The SCSU women’s hockey team swept visiting Lindenwood University this weekend at the National Hockey and Event Center. The Huskies shut out the Lions 2-0 on Friday then won 7-2 on Saturday.

Huskies sophomore goaltender Julie Friend recorded the shutout between the pipes on Friday night with 21 saves. Julia Gilbert and Haylea Schmid registered goals in the win.

On Saturday the Huskies broke out for seven goals. Gilbert and Schmid continued their impressive weekends for SCSU on Saturday, with Gilbert notching a pair of goals and an assist and Schmid netting two goals. Molli Mott, Abby Ness and Ellie Sitek also scored in the win.

The Huskies are now 4-7-1 overall and 2-6 in conference play. The UMD Bulldogs are next on the schedule with a series this weekend at the NHEC.
