Archived: Several Crashes Take Place On Sunday’s Dangerous Roads
Icy roads plagued drivers on Sunday, causing several crashes.
Some accidents that authorities were alerted to included crashes at Interstate 94 in St. Cloud, Highway 10 in Rice, and Highway 15 in Sauk Rapids.
The Minnesota State Patrol says a car and an SUV were heading west on Interstate 94 just after 7:15 p.m. on Sunday. The car spun out as it attempted to pass the SUV and the two vehicles collided. A mini-van then came by and collided with the SUV, which was blocking the left lane.
Hours before, a pickup truck was trying to go around a curve at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday in Rice when it spun out and rolled.
However, the largest crash came on Highway 15 in Sauk Rapids just after 8:15 p.m. A car spun out and hit a guard rail, causing a pickup to stop. Another car came around the corner and rear-ended the pickup, causing it to collide with an unoccupied squad car.
A total of three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the three crashes.
