-The St. Cloud Crush boys hockey team lost 0-7 on Tuesday night to the Cloquet/Esko/Carlton Lumberjacks. Jordy Sewell led the way for the Lumberjacks with 1 goal and 5 points. Goaltender Jacob Iallonardo notched a 10 save shutout in the win.
A tripping penalty on St. Cloud’s Crosby Hedin gave the Lumberjacks the first powerplay with 13:19 remaining in the first period. Lucas Gentilini took advantage and scored the first goal of the night for the Lumberjacks with an assist from Conor Sullivan and Jordy Sewell.
18 seconds later Sewell committed a cross checking penalty giving St. Cloud a powerplay, but the Crush were not able to take advantage.
Just under 30 seconds later, Trevor Mrozik netted another goal for the Lumberjacks making it 2-0 with 9:15 to go.
The second period was a very physical one that included nine total penalties with five of them on St. Cloud. The Crush had a five on three powerplay but a penalty of their own evened things up and the Lumberjacks scored shortly after. Cloquet/Esko/Carlton piled on the goals in the third period. First Jordy Sewell scored, then Lucas Gentilli and Colten Renquist followed to help the Lumberjacks earn a 7-0 win.
Next Up: The Crush will take on St. Cloud Cathedral tomorrow night at 7:17 p.m.
