An unusual vehicle will be roaming the streets of St. Cloud this summer and city officials say it may look odd but it’s doing an important job.

The St. Cloud Area Planning Organization says the odd looking van is collecting pavement data across the city. The van covered in cameras and other technical equipment and will be slowly driving through neighborhoods this summer. Using a combination of video and lasers the city will get a very detailed picture of road conditions throughout St. Cloud.

aThe van will start collecting dat the first week of June and will continue to roam the streets all summer.
