The St. Cloud State Football team once again found themselves in overtime football Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls, but came up short falling 16-13 to Augustana.

A scoreless first quarter opened the contest. Curtwan Evans earned a touchdown run late in the first half tying the game at 7 into halftime.

Augustana responded quick in the second half with a 34 yard nine play drive to pushing the Vikings ahead 10-7. Both defense were strong and elements favored against a pair of struggling offensive sides.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Huskies countered the Vikings score on a solid drive ending with a Adam Stage field goal. Big catches from Tanner Teige and John Solberg led the scoring drive once again tying the game at 10-10.

When needing points the most, Augustana’s offense produced a key scoring drive ending in a field goal. The Vikings earned a 13-10 lead with just 1:20 left in the contest.

St. Cloud State’s clutch offense late in the fourth quarter was headlined by a pair of huge catches by Max Plunkett. A big drive set up a redemption field goal attempt by Adam Stage right at the end of the game. Stage knocked it straight through the up rights to send the game into overtime.

First on with the ball in overtime, SCSU turned the ball over with a fumble giving the ball right back to the Vikings. Augustana would get the victory with a 35 yard field goal knocking off the Huskies and collecting the 16-13 win.

St. Cloud State falls to 3-3 on the season and 3-3 in NSIC play. They next will host SMSU this Saturday at Husky Stadium for a 1pm kickoff. Coverage of Huskies Football on 88.1fm KVSC begins at 12:45pm Saturday.
