2-1 and 3-2 wins pushed the Huskies right back into the playoff conversation this past weekend.

10/18/19 Upper Iowa 1 St. Cloud State 2

SCSU’s strong attack led as the leading force in a 3-2 win Friday evening at Husky Stadium.

Monica Majeski scored her first goal of the season off a beautiful assist from Friis and Dominuguez for a 1-0 lead. Friis earned her third assist of the year, while Dominguez tallied her second assist of the season.

Jenna Dominguez split the entire Upper Iowa back line to finish a goal making it 2-0 in the 26th minute. Dominguez added her 3rd point of the game with the goal which was her second of the season.

Upper Iowa would counter with a penalty kick goal in the 52nd goal, but SCSU shut down UIU for the remainder of the game preserving the win. The Huskies outshot the Peacocks 19-6, while goalkeeper Zoe Welsh notched just 1 save in goal. SCSU earned their 4th win in NSIC play improving to 4-2-2 in the conference and 5-3-3 overall.

10/20/19 Winona State 2 St. Cloud State 3

Three first half goals from St. Cloud State would be too much for the Winona State Warriors, as the Huskies earned a 3-2 win Sunday at Husky Stadium.

The Warriors would be first to find the back of the net off a free kick in the 6th minute scored by Georgette Topails. Kendyl Keay earned the assist on the quick strike goal from WSU.

In the 18th minute, a challenge from Warriors defender Katie Timmons took Jenna Dominguez down in the box for a penalty. Kaitlyn Dzuibinski would slot home the opportunity tying the game at 1. Dzubinski earned her second goal of the season.

Winona State mistakes took a toll through out the contest. Jenna Dominguez got the Huskies back in front 2-1 after picking up a give away by Warriors goalkeeper Yanel Ortiz. Dominguez earned her 2nd goal of the weekend and her 3rd on the season.

Brook Bares fired a curling shot past the WSU goalkeeper in the 36th minute to give SCSU a 3-1 advantage. It would result in the game winning goal for the Huskies as Bares recorded her second goal in 2019.

Warriors freshman Ellie Wardell cut the SCSU lead to 3-2 after netting home a rebound goal off of Huskies goalkeeper Zoe Welsh in the 68th minute. It would prove too little too late for WSU, as SCSU earned the 3-2 win on TOUGH Campaign Day at Husky Stadium.

St. Cloud State moves to 6-3-3 in 2019 and now claims a 5-2-2 record in NSIC play this season. SCSU faces a tough road heavy schedule to finish out the regular season, beginning this coming Friday in Sioux Falls to battle USF.
