St. Cloud State Volleyball Earn Historic win over Concordia-St. Paul

#8 St. Cloud State for the first time in program history defeated #6 Concordia St. Paul 3-2 Saturday in St. Cloud.

A back and forth first set saw CSP come away with a close 25-22 win. Set number two saw SCSU struggle letting the Golden Bears jump out to a 2-0 lead after a 25-10 win.

In the third set, SCSU came alive with a late run of points to push themselves in front for a 2-1 lead to force a fourth set. The Huskies stayed relentless using strong offense to propel themselves to a thrilling fourth set win to push a decisive fifth set.

Back and forth play in the final set saw St. Cloud State eventually prevail. After the set being all tied at 15-15, then 16-16, back to back points for SCSU earned them the historic win over CSP 3-2. It was the first win over powerhouse Concordia St. Paul in SCSU volleyball history.

Linsey Rachel was strong in the outing with 16 kills and 17 digs in the win. Senior libero Clara Krenz also made a impact defensively with 20 digs as well.

St. Cloud State now hold a strong record of 21-5 overall and 13-5 in NSIC action. They travel to Winona State and Upper Iowa this coming weekend to finish off the 2019 regular season.
