Archived: Wrestling Earns Third Consecutive Regional Title
SCSU’s #1 ranked wrestling team captured their third consecutive NCAA Division 2 Super Region 3 championship on Sunday in Waterloo, Iowa. The Huskies posted the most team points at the tournament with 140.5 points. Leaps and bounds ahead of second place Upper Iowa with 95.5 overall points. SCSU earned a team best of four individual titles with Shamus O’Grady, Andy Pokorny, Clint Poster and Jacob Kaknke. Overall the team qualified nine wrestlers for the Division 2 Championships on March 8-9 in Birmingham, Alabama. Senior, Shamus O’Grady was named the tournaments Most Valuable Wrestler after his first place finish in the 184-pound weight class.
The SCSU wrestlers who qualified for the 2013 NCAA Division II championships include:
