Archived: 18 Citations Given in Traffic Detail
Central Minnesota police departments handed out 18 citations during a traffic detail last week. The area focused on Highway 23 from the Mississippi River to I-94 in St. Joseph. Officers heavily patrolled the stretch of road and used traffic signs to let drivers know they were entering an enforcement area.
Police issued 2 DWI’s during the detail. Other citations were given out for driving after withdrawl, equipment violations as well as other miscellanious problems.
The stepped-up enforcement is part of the Crash Taskforce, also known as the Central Minnesota Reduction of Accidents for Safe Highways. The main goal of the group is to reduce serious injury and fatal traffic crashes, a main component of the state’s toward zero death initiative.
