A Freeport man has died in a house fire that occurred on Saturday morning near Albany.

Stearns County Deputies responded to a call where they believed the homeowner was still inside the home.  When deputies arrived at the scene, the fire had become fully engulfed.

According to Sheriff Soyka, when the fire was finally extinguished, the homeowner, 82-year-old Harvey Mayers of Freeport was inside the home deceased.

The fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal and no one else was injured.
