44 drivers were arrested by St. Cloud Police during a statewide DWI enforcement effort. The effort was conducted by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and around 400 law enforcement agencies participated. In addition to DWI enforcement during the campaign, officers issued 23 seat belt citations. Despite significant reductions in alcohol-related deaths in recent years, impaired driving still accounts for one-third of all traffic deaths annually in Minnesota. The DWI enforcement and education effort is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is a part of Minnesota’s Toward Zero Deaths traffic safety program.
