Archived: 4th Annual Day Off On The Mississippi River Is This Saturday

The Stearns County Soil and Water Conservation District is inviting you to take a day off on the Mississippi River. This Saturday marks the 4th year of their Take A Day Off on the Mississippi River event. The event features over 40 free outdoor activities including archery, paddle boating, disc golfing and much more.

Last year’s event was estimated to have over 1,300 people attend for a day Off, or Outdoor Family Fun. The day off event goes from 10am – 4pm this Saturday at the Stearns County Mississippi River Park, 7 miles north of Sartell.

The spotlight events include Paddle the Mighty Mississippi which starts at 10:30 a.m. and  2:15 pm. St. Cloud State University Outdoor Endeavors will teach the basics of canoeing during a five and a half mile scenic trip down the Mississippi River.

At 11:30 a.m. there will be "A Walk Through Time" with the Natural Parks and Trails Coalition which will take a tour of the historic Graves Farmstead.

At 1 p.m. the Wildlife Science Center will showcase Minnesota Native "Animals Nobody Loves". They will share three of their least loved animal friends and what makes each so unique. 

The event is co-sponsored by the Soil and Water Conservation District by theStearns County Soil and Water Conservations District, Stearns County Parks, Benton County, St.Cloud State University and Minnesota DNR with support from local sportsmen’s clubs and community volunteers.
