6th District DFL candidates will face off in debate Saturday, Jan. 10

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — A debate between two candidates competing for the DFL endorsement to challenge Rep. Tom Emmer will take place in St. Cloud to mark the beginning of the 2026 midterms.

Anson Amberson and Doug Chapin will be facing off in the Mississippi Room at the Great River Regional Library starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10.

Mike Knaak, a retired managing editor for the St. Cloud Times, will moderate the hour-long event.

The debate will feature multiple rounds of Q&A, and microphones will be strictly timed to ensure a focused discussion.

The public can participate by submitting questions in advance at www.cd6dfl.com/question. Questions should be submitted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7.

Emmer has held the position in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District since 2015. The district spans from the St. Cloud area through the northern and western Twin Cities suburbs to Carver County.
