Archived: Events to Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.
Two events are taking place this week that celebrate the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Kirt Wilson is presenting “Memories of the King: How the Memorialization of the Civil Rights Movement is Shaping American Culture and Race Relations”. The presentation is taking place Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Gorecki Conference Center, room 204 on the College of St. Benedict campus. Attendees are asked to donate a non-perishable food item to South Junior High’s food shelf.
Mixed Blood Theatre will be performing “Dr. King’s Dream” on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Atwood Theatre on the campus of St. Cloud State. The performance celebrates the life of Dr. King and is drawn from his letters, sermons, books and speeches. This event will last approximately 50 minutes and is sponsored by the Multicultural Student Services.
