Archived: Record High Temp “Destroyed” Thursday

St. Cloud State University meteorology professor Bob Weisman states it quite well, Thursday’s high temperature of 53 in St. Cloud “destroyed” the old January 5 recorded high.

Weisman says this was the 4th record warm high of this winter season, and we broke the 1984 record for January 5 by 10 degrees. Additionally, it’s the earliest 50-degree high in St. Cloud’s history.

Just because its fun to think about, and may make for a good water cooler talk, from the early hours of Thursday when St. Cloud reported 19 degrees through the record high of 53 degrees later in the afternoon, there was a 72 degree temperature swing, all in less than 24 hours.
