A man is in custody after he allegedly broke into a home and assaulted a woman Monday. St. Cloud Police went to the 700 block of 14th Street South around 4:20 a.m. for a burglary in progress.

When officers arrived, they found that the front window to the apartment was shattered. Police found a 30-year old woman, a 22-year-old woman and three children barricaded in a bedroom. 26-year-old Abdirizak Hees Omar of Minneapolis was found trying to break into a bedroom.

Police say Omar had a child in common with one of the victims and had allegedly assaulted the 22-year-old victim. Omar was taken to the Stearns County Jail and is being charged with felony domestic assault and burglary.
