A Sauk Centre man is in custody after leading a police chase that ended in a plowed field. Stearns County Deputies attempted to stop a black Chevy pickup truck for speeding around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday. The truck attempted to flee from officers at a high rate of speed before losing control on County Road 30 near Black Oak Lake in Grove Township.

The truck drove into a plowed field without its lights on in an attempt to lose officers. The truck was PIT’ed in the field by police in order to stop. Both the truck and squad car were damaged in the incident. The truck was driven by 24-year-old Ben Yarke along with 24-year-old passenger Grant Wenker of Melrose. Police believe alcohol played a factor and criminal charges are currently pending.
