Archived: Motorists Advised To Drive Safely This Winter
The St. Cloud Police Department is reminding motorists of the hazards of winter driving conditions following twenty-seven car crashes and numerous reports of cars sliding into ditches Saturday afternoon.
While only two crashes resulted in injuries, Westbound Interstate 94 was closed and traffic was redirected into St. Cloud on Highway 15 for one hour while State Patrol assisted with a multi-car accident West of the city.
Motorists are reminded to give themselves extra time, slow down and allow extra distance between themselves and the cars ahead of them. Giving snow plows extra room is also advised, as the plow blades extend beyond their sides and can be easily hidden by blizzard conditions.
