The Stearns County web site has been named the best county government website in the country by the Center for Digital Government’s Best of the Web Awards.

The awards highlight the top 10 state, county and city websites and judge them based on innovation, site accessibility, cost-savings, ease of use and exceptional service to the public.

Stearns County’s website, which was re-launched in 2010, was highlighted for its straightforward navigation, interactive mapping features, online payment systems and use of social media. The judges also noted the navigation of the website is easy to use and consistent.

Stearns County also won a Digital Government Achievement Award in the Government to Citizen Category for their public safety services. This pertained to the community’s ability to access the Stearns County 10 Most Wanted, outstanding warrants and inmate searches.

The website serves over 25,000 people a month.
