The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was called to a car accident at County Road 7 and 43rd Avenue in St. Augusta early Saturday. A Sheriff’s investigation revealed 20-year-old Benjamin Charles Lortz and a passenger were traveling South on County Road 7 when his car failed to make a turn at 23rd Avenue.

The car went into a holding pond and sank shortly after while both Lortz and the passenger were able to get out of the vehicle. The crash is under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
