Archived: Car Struck by Train

Officers from the Minnesota State Patrol and the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department responded to a car that was stuck on a railroad track early Thursday morning just outside of Brooten.

The car, driven by 50-year-old Michael Scott Johnson of Glenwood, got stuck on a private railroad crossing around two a.m. Johnson abandoned the car and as police arrived, a train headed Eastbound hit the car.

No one was injured in the crash but police suspect alcohol may have been a involved. The crash is currently being investigated.
