Archived: Four Families Get Homes This Holiday
Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity will dedicate four homes for St. Cloud area partner families. The celebrations will mark the end of months, even years of hard work of the families, community volunteers, and supporters. The Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Bruce Johnson says, “the look of excitement on the faces of the families when they reach their dreams of owning a home is priceless.” It was supporting grants from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the St. Cloud Housing and Redevelopment Authority that made completing these projects possible. To raise the rest of the funds a special campaign was held and given a huge boost through a matching grant by the Jim and Yvonne Sexton Family Foundation. Each of the homes were built or renovated through programs to turn foreclosed or distressed housing into single family homes. The public is welcome to come celebrate with the families and meet the people who are helping them out of poverty housing with safe, decent and affordable shelter.
