Archived: SCSU Professor To Perform Percussion Concerto
When the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra kicks off it’s season Saturday, Terry Vermillion will be a very busy man.
Vermillion, who is the principal timpanist and music department chair at SCSU, will play 26 different percussion instruments while performing a percussion concerto created by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Jennifer Higdon.
Andrew Altenbach, artistic director and principal conductor, will lead the orchestra through a program which includes Carnival Overture, and Higdon’s Percussion Concerto among others.
The concert begins at 7:30 PM Saturday at Ritsche Auditorium, in Stewart Hall on the St. Cloud State campus. A preconcert lecture with Altenbach discussing the program and answering audience questions begins at 6:30.
