Archived: Avon Teen to be Tried as Adult in Attempted Murder Case
A 16-year-old Avon boy will be prosecuted as an adult for attempting to kill a 17-year-old boy at a graduation party over the summer. Aaron Matthew Schwanke is being charged with second degree attempted murder. It happened the night of July 3rd on Pelican Lake Road in Avon Township. According to the criminal complaint, when the victim arrived at the party, Schwanke told him he wanted to fight. That’s when, the complaint says, Schwanke stabbed the boy in the chest with a knife, causing a six to eight inch laceration. The victim suffered a partially collapsed lung and damage to the heart. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says Schwanke made multiple threats to kill the victim in the weeks leading up to the stabbing because the victim was dating his ex-girlfriend.
