Archived: Man Accused of Shooting at Police Arrested

The St. Cloud man accused of firing multiple shots at police in August was arrested immediately following his release from the hospital Friday.

Officers arrived to the 500 block of Seventh Avenue North in St. Cloud to investigate reports of shots fired. Suspect Frank Bammert had barricaded himself inside of a ground level apartment, and St. Cloud Police called in their tactical response team. Bammert twice fired shots out the window, directly towards officer Todd Weeres. On the second occasion Weeres returned fire, hitting Bammert in the head and neck.
Frank Bammert was charged with two counts of First Degree Assault-Use of Deadly Force Against a Peace Officer, and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Bail was set at one-million-dollars unconditionally, or $250,000 with conditions. Bammert is scheduled to appear in court on October 20th.
