Overall crime at St. Cloud State went up last year according to the SCSU Public Safety Department’s annual report, which summarizes crime on campus and related areas in 2009. The report says 176 people were arrested for alcohol violations and 57 were arrested for drug abuse violations in 2009. The campus public safety department says there were 149 thefts, 30 burglaries, and 11 forcible sex offenses at St. Cloud State last year. All of these figures are an increase from 2008 except for the drug arrests. One improvement from 2008 is weapons violations. The report says there were two weapon-related arrests in 2008 and none in 2009.
