Tests on items taken this summer from a central Minnesota farm near the site of Jacob Wetterling’s abduction have yielded no break in the 1989 case.  Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner made the announcement Tuesday, saying the investigation continues. He says testing was unable to "establish, distinguish or identify potential evidence." 

Jacob was 11 when he was taken by a masked gunman on October 22, 1989, from a rural road in St. Joseph. He hasn’t been seen since. There have been no arrests. Authorities converged on the farm near the abduction site this summer and hauled away truckloads of dirt, ash and other items.  Sanner says Tuesday that details on items will remain confidential. Sanner says authorities remain steadfast in their commitment to solving the case.  Jacob’s kidnapping drew national attention and let to state and federal sex offender registration laws.
