Archived: Man in Prison for Murder won’t be Charged for Robbing Bank

A man already serving life in prison for murder will not be charged for robbing a St. Augusta bank four years ago. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Jeremy Jason Hull robbed the State Bank of Kimball in September of 2006. However, officials say the cost of a trial is not worth it, and taking Hull from prison to court would put the public at risk. Hull is serving a life sentence without the possibility of release for killing Lewis Wilcek of Little Falls in 2007. The sheriff’s office says a robbery conviction would not affect that sentence.

The robbery happened on September 8th, 2006. Police say a bank employee was approached by a man with a gun as she was getting reader to enter the locked bank. Officials say the man demanded she open the door and allow him into the bank, where he took an undisclosed amount of cash and got away. The suspect was described as a black man, five foot eight, and between 20 and 25 years of age. Last year, investigators obtained information that linked Hull to the robbery, and that he wore black makeup to change his appearance. Subsequent DNA tests confirmed that Hull robbed the bank, according to the sheriff’s office.
