Archived: Hot and Wet August in St. Cloud

August 2010 will go in the books as the seventh warmest and eleventh wettest in St. Cloud history. SCSU Meteorology Professor Bob Weisman says the average August temperature in St. Cloud was 72.7 degrees, more than five degrees warmer than normal. There were seven days in August when the high reached at least 90 degrees, which ties a St. Cloud record. Weisman also says August rainfall in St. Cloud was 6.36 inches, almost two and a half inches above normal. That made it the wettest August since 1995. Looking ahead to September, Weisman says the chance for another 90 degree day is slim, but don’t count it out. 90 degree highs and even a few 100 degree highs have been observed in St. Cloud as late as the 17th of September.
