Archived: Alexandria Man Jailed after 29 Mile Police Chase

An Alexandria man is in jail after leading officers from six agencies on a 29 mile pursuit. It happened Monday afternoon, starting in Benton County and ending at the St. Cloud Hospital. Police tried to pull over 38-year-old Patrick John Meyer for driving with a cancelled license. Police say Meyer attempted to elude officers by running stop signs and driving erratically on back roads in Benton County. The pursuit ended when Meyer crashed into construction equipment at the St. Cloud Hospital. Police say the suspect then got out of the car and tried to get away. He was ultimately arrested after a brief chase on foot. No one was injured. Involved in this pursuit were officers from Rice, St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids and Sartell as well as the State Patrol and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. Meyer is being held in the Benton County Jail on charges of fleeing officers and driving after cancellation.
