Archived: SCSU Students Camp Out for Disaster Relief
This week, students at St. Cloud State will be quite visible on campus as they raise awareness about people displaced by natural disasters. On Wednesday and Thursday, Political Science Professor Patricia Bodelson and her Global Disaster Relief Policy class will construct a temporary relief camp outside of Stewart Hall and the 51 Building on Campus. An opening ceremony involving local and state government officials is scheduled for 4:00 pm Wednesday. Students will camp out at the site tonight and learn how to cook disaster relief food like solar cooked rice and fish from the Mississippi River. The camp will also feature a triage center for the injured and sick. All are invited to attend or visit the camp until it is disassembled at noon Thursday.
