Archived: Drug Suspect Flees Officers in Sauk River, Police Say
A 38-year-old St. Cloud man is behind bars for allegedly fleeing officers and running into the Sauk River to avoid a drug arrest. It happened at around 3:30 pm Tuesday at the Stearns County West Service Center in Waite Park, where a sheriff’s deputy was pursuing a warrant to arrest Larry Anderson for possession of cocaine. Anderson was at the service center for a probation appointment. When the deputy attempted to arrest Anderson, the sheriff’s department says the suspect ran away and entered the Sauk River to avoid getting arrested.
Officers eventually found Anderson in the river near Slumberland Furniture, about a mile east of where he entered. He was arrested and taken to the Stearns County jail where he awaits possible charges of drug possession, fleeing an officer, and obstructing the legal process.
