Archived: Busiest Road Construction Year in State History to Kick Off

2010 will be the busiest year for road construction in Minnesota state history. 283 construction projects this year will cost the state $1.3 billion. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, projects in central Minnesota include:

• A $32 million project on Highway 23 near Paynesville, where workers will construct a four-lane divided highway bypass, build bridges and install new lighting.
• A $2.6 million project in Pierz, where workers will reconstruct Highway 25 and install sidewalks, curbs, gutters, sewers, utilities and street lights.
• A $1.5 million project in Little Falls, where workers will reconstruct Mississippi River bridges on the Highway 10 bypass that was damaged during flooding this spring.
