Archived: SCSU Releases Results of Abortion Survey
Results from a new SCSU survey on abortion are in. Of the 550 adults randomly surveyed, 46-percent believe abortion should be a woman’s choice while another 10-percent say it should never be allowed. Women were more likely to favor the "personal choice" option. But both men and women were split on the "never allowed" position. The survey also found 63-percent of those polled believe Roe v. Wade should not be overturned.
Other results include: 64-percent of democrats say abortion should be a personal choice compared to 20% of Republicans. 17-percent say it should never be allowed compared to 3% of Democrats.
About 60-percent of 18-24 year olds perfer the personal choice position. Other than suburban residents being less likely to support the personal choice position, there are not any real differences based on geographical location.
The SCSU surveys are conducted once a year in the fall and focus on statewide issues. More surveys about immigration, same sex marriage, economy and healthcare will be released later on. There are plenty more stats from this survey.
