The St. Cloud State softball team has been playing with heavy hearts all season long after the loss of former teammate Kelly Laas who passed away from ovarian cancer on March 2nd. This Friday the team will honor Laas at a memorial service at Newman Center in St. Cloud at 7 P.M.

Laas first took the field for the Huskies in 2008 and was majoring in elementary education at SCSU prior to her death. She started all 57 games in 2009, and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player in 2010 during her fight with the disease.
