A 67-year-old Melrose man was run over by farm equipment Tuesday afternoon.

According to Stearns County Sheriff Steve Soyka, John Hellermann and 24-year-old Dylan Hellermann of Melrose were driving north on County Road 17 in their side by side ATV when they were passed on the left by Myron Reiman of Melrose pulling a field roller.

The elder Hellermann tried turning left right behind the truck and hit the field roller, causing him to fall out of the ATV.

He landed in front of the field roller and was run over by it leaving him with severe injuries. No one else involved was injured.

John Hellermann was brought to Melrose hospital, while an air lift was on its way; it was unable to make it due to severe weather.

The crash is still under investigation and updates will be posted here as they come out.
