SCSU Tuition Hiked for Fall Semester
St. Cloud State University will see the largest tuition increase of any Minnesota State school this fall, but there is a reason for this.
St. Cloud State will increase tuition by 4.2% after the Minnesota State board of trustees approved a 3% bump in undergraduate tuition on Wednesday. SCSU was the only school to be given special permission to go above the 3%. The hike brings SCSU up to the bottom line in price with MSU, Mankato.
Minnesota State received $81.5 million in funding over the last two years which was an increase but is roughly one-third of the $246 million that was requested. This resulted in SCSU receiving the increase due to “extraordinary circumstances beyond the control of the college or university.”
An increase in tuition may be in line again next fall as enrollment continues to decline by more than 21% since 2011.
