A Sherburne County Jail inmate was taken to the hospital after experiencing a medical emergency Wednesday afternoon.

The inmate remains hospitalized and initial screening indicated that the inmate was not under the influence of any illegal substances. A search of the inmates cell did not reveal any answers either, and the inmate was in a cell by himself.

According to Sheriff Joel Brott, four medical personnel were taken to the hospital as well after reporting tingling in their fingers which raised concerns about a possible opioid exposure. Seven more correctional officers were given the option to be seen by medical professionals and were taken to the hospital. All medical personnel and correctional officers were checked out fine and were released.
