Update: Tech High School Fight Details Released
A detailed report of the incident at Tech High School that led to a lockdown last week has been released.
Last Wednesday, September 25th, Tech High School went into lock down after a large fight broke out with a total of 16 students being detained for their involvement. That number has now risen to 19 students according the St. Cloud Police Department.
The Police Department says that the investigation is still on-going, they have concluded that the fight initial was between to 16-year-old boys. The boys had already had a previous altercation off of school grounds that re-manifested itself at the school.
The two boys fought each other in the hallway, leading to their friends joining in and fighting each other as well. The number of students involved as the fight grew over a ten-minute period before being broken up by police. Tech staff and administrators tried to break up the fights, with three staff members suffering some minor injuries.
Police also confirmed earlier reports that there was a knife at the scene. A student had pulled out a pocket knife, however, thankfully no one was injured.
The School District says that all 19 students have been removed from the school for the remainder of the year as they review the case and make disciplinary decisions on each individual. Criminal charges from the County are expected to happen by the end of this week.
