The Annual Bruce and Dee Pearson Faculty Excellence Award recipient has been announced for 2012-13. This year’s recipient is Glen Tuomaala. Tuomaala, who has been at SCSU since 2005, is the director of two campus bands, Including the Husky Sports Band and the Dixieland Band.

Music Department Chair Terry Vermillion says he is thankful to Tuomaala for his tireless efforts in establishing the Husky Sports Band, the Dixieland Band, and most recently as conductor of the university Campus Band.

Bruce Pearson, whom the award is named after, is a world-renowned music educator, author, composer, and clinician. He graduated from SCSU in 1964 and continues to donate to the Music Department. In 2007, he was honored as a distinguished alumni.
