A St. Cloud woman was able to fight off a man who was attempting to steal her purse early Thursday morning. St. Cloud Police were called to an assault complaint in the 200 block of 33rd Avenue South just after midnight. The 18-year-old victim told police that she was in the 1200 block of Maine Prairie Road when she was approached by an unknown man who tried to take her purse.

The victim was able to fight back leading the suspect to flee on foot. The suspect is described as a tall, thin, African American man in his mid-twenties who was wearing a baseball hat. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
