Archived: Police Respond to a Burglary in Progress
A St. Cloud man was arrested after he allegedly tried to break in to an apartment he once lived at.
At 3 a.m. Friday St. Cloud Police were called to the 100 block of East St Germain Street for a burglary in progress. When officers arrived they found 53-year-old Brandon McClendon of St. Cloud had allegedly forced his way into an apartment and attempted to assault a 24-year-old St. Cloud man with a knife.
Police believe that the incident had occurred because McClendon may have lived at the apartment at one time and wanted to get his property back. A small pocketknife was found in McClendon’s possession and the victim positively identified the knife as the one used by McClendon during the incident.
McClendon was taken to Benton County Jail where he is being held on charges of 1st degree burglary and 2nd degree assault.
